Brazilian Senator Campos highlights strong Brazil-UAE ties and future growth potential

Brazilian Senator Jayme Campos has emphasised the robustness of relations between Brazil and the UAE, spotlighting a series of recent agreements that drive closer ties and cooperation in trade, cultural exchange, and legislative collaboration.

Speaking to Aletihad during a visit to the Brazilian Senate, Campos said that the “excellent bilateral relations” between the UAE and Brazil are propelled by a growing list of agreements, covering areas such as double taxation avoidance, visa exemptions, and extradition. These measures, he explained, are designed to facilitate smoother interactions and enhance collaboration between the two global leaders.

Drawing on this strong foundation, Senator Campos, a member of the Brazil-UAE Parliamentary Group, outlined the potential for deepening diplomatic ties, particularly in trade and cultural exchange.

“With the legal foundations established, the countries need to move forward with a view to deepening their cultural relationship, with a decisive role for the Brazilian congress,” he said.

Campos pointed to key sectors that stand to benefit from increased collaboration, including infrastructure, energy, tourism, education, technology, and agribusiness. He noted that both countries are well-positioned to strengthen investments in these areas, further enriching their economic partnership.

In the legislative arena, Campos highlighted the establishment of the Brazil-United Arab Emirates parliamentary group as a permanent body within the Brazilian Federal Senate. As a full member of the group, he expressed his commitment to fostering cooperation between the legislative branches of both nations.

“This forum promotes cooperation between the legislative houses of both countries, as well as the ongoing improvement of the legislation that regulates and stimulates our bilateral relations.”
