Established in 1977, GMS is a leading provider and operator of 15 self-propelled, self-elevating support vessels.

We offer practical, cost-effective solutions to the complex challenges faced by our customers engaged in the offshore oil, gas and renewable energy sectors. Our fleet of self-propelled Self-Elevating Support Vessels (SESVS) are capable to meet the unique challenges of marine environments.

Established Gulf Marine Services (GMS).
1977
Constructed four Small Class SESVs, including the world’s first four-leg SESV.
1982
Gulf Capital completed the acquisition of GMS.
2007
Fifth Small Class SESV delivered.
2008
Appointed new CEO and management team.
Introduced a strategic plan focusing on divesting non-core assets and investing in new vessels.
First Large Class SESV successfully delivered.
2009
Delivered the sixth Small Class SESV.
Achieved international accreditations: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Established Saudi office through a joint venture partnership.
2010
Established the GMS UK office.
2011
Entered offshore renewable energy market in North West Europe
Seventh Small Class SESV delivered
Two Large Class SESVs delivered
2014
UK Safety Case approved
Third Large Class SESV completed and delivered.
GMS completed its IPO and was listed on the London Stock Exchange in March 2014.
Development of the Mid-Size Class SESV design initiated.
Three Mid-Size Class SESVs successfully delivered.
2015
Eighth Small Class SESV delivered, featuring an enhanced design.
Developed the world’s first cantilever system specifically for an SESV.
2016
Fourth Large Class SESV delivered with an integrated cantilever system.
2017
UK Safety Case approved for GMS Evolution with cantilever for well operations.
2018
A new board was appointed to oversee strategic direction.
July 2020 – November 2020
Introduced an innovative access tower system for crew transfers to and from SESVs within the renewables sector.
A new board of directors was appointed.
July 2020 – November 2020
First deployment of cantilever technology on Evolution 6104.
GMS secured a long-term contract for Evolution 6104.
