International Women in Engineering Day celebrates empowerment and achievements

On International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), annually celebrated on June 23, young Emirati engineers shared their passion about a fulfilling career.

INWED was launched in the UK as a national campaign in 2014 by the Women’s Engineering Society to celebrate its 95th anniversary.

By 2017, the campaign went global due to a surge in international interest, and since then the annual event has been shedding light on the notable contributions of women engineers globally.

This year, INWED is marked under the theme “Enhanced by Engineering”, celebrating women engineers’ work to support lives and livelihoods.

Speaking on this occasion, Emirati engineer Maryam Alhefeiti told Aletihad that she is content with her fulfilling career.
